A  Drinking Water System to Protect Against Giardia

It is no surprise to anyone who reads the newspaper, watches the news, or keeps an eye out for health related information that unfiltered drinking water is not safe. City water filtration systems are unable to keep up with the numerous contaminants in the water supply. One of the most common organic menaces is Guardia. This little parasite has the ability to make a person incredibly ill. This is why the smart, health conscious consumer will want to install a drinking water system in their home.

What is Giardia?

The first thing to know about Giardia is that it is bad news. It is a chlorine resistant bacterium found in drinking water. Since the majority of our drinking water supply originally comes from lakes and rivers, Giardia has an open door policy. It gets into those lakes and rivers by means of animal waste and sewage.

The illness that may result from exposure to Giardia is unpleasant to say the least. It can cause stomach cramps, upset stomach, and diarrhea, weight loss and dehydration. The symptoms generally begin 1-2 weeks after infection and can last anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Some people will have no symptoms.  However, children, people with weakened immune systems and the elderly may have a more serious infection that can lead to severe illness or death. Those people fortunate enough to be exposed but not contract the illness are considered carriers as they can pass the disease onto others.

Using one of the many drinking water treatment systems available today can ensure no one in your household will be susceptible to these harmful bacteria. Safeguarding your family against possible outbreaks of Giardia is essential. Treated drinking water is the safest, most cost effective method for guarding your home against this invasion.
